This personalized yoga immersion week is thoughtfully designed for you by Mie, who has lived in Tanzania for many years. It brings together a unique blend of yoga, sound, healing touch, wild nature, nourishing food, kind-hearted people, and the rich culture of Zanzibar.

It’s one of the most supportive places to practice yoga and cultivate wellbeing—gently guiding you back to yourself and restoring your energy in a natural way. This is a space to deepen or begin your practice, to reflect, observe, and nourish yourself—bringing balance back to your body, mind, and energy.

The Venue: Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas
We will be staying at Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas, eco friendly beach hotel in Matemwe Zanzibar, hidden North-Eastern coast of this enchanting island. The hotel has a spacious beach restaurant, bar and a swimming pool.
You will be staying at all-natural beach-front bandas. The whole area is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and gazes over the expansive Indian Ocean. The location is unique and the view will definitely take your breath away.
Yoga & Sample Daily Schedule
7:30 am Wake up rested with sounds of waves & a cup of tea, and a snack
8:00-9:30am Morning sunrise meditation and yoga practice
9:45 am Nourish yourself for the day with a delicious full course breakfast
Free Time ~ Join beach / cultural activities, soak up the sun, enjoy the beach and relax, massage, read, etc!
4:00pm Special Program / Workshop / Asana clinic (twice a week)
5:00 - 6:30pm Afternoon yoga & meditation practice
7:00pm Dinner

The practice is all-level at the spacious yoga Shala. Take your practice to a deeper level through mindful Vinyasa flow yoga approach, breathing techniques, and powerful meditations.
You will be guided into asanas with safe, clear instructions through well-combined sequences themed specially for each day. The sequence is based on healthy alignment of the body, and a pathway to enhance your vital energy (prana), tone and open up all layers of your body.
There are two practices daily. Morning practice begins with sunrise meditation to welcome the day. Morning asana practice is focused on connecting movement and breath to awaken your energy and move it through all energy centers (chakras). Authentic and creative sequence is designed by Mie for each day and it will create heat in our bodies through purifying breathing practices and well-rounded body movement. Evening yoga sessions are to bring you back into the present moment and to help you release deep-seated tension in your muscles and tissues. You will be able to surrender and relax with a combination of yin practice, yoga nidra and sound. These sessions will help you to calm the nervous system, find stillness and invite positive energy towards the end of the day. Both sessions conclude with a profound full-body relaxation & sound healing.
Our schedule is diverse, to make sure you feel nourished in every possible way. So, your day could look like this, but every day is different!
Explore Zanzibar’s Culture & Nature ~ optional activities/excursions:
During your free time, embrace excursions to Stone Town, the world heritage site, visit Jozani Forest to watch unique Zanzibar Red Colobus Monkey, get on a traditional Dhow boat for a cruise and see a most beautiful sunset, learn how to kite-surf at one of the best kite-surfing sites in the world and soak up the beauty of Zanzibar beach with serene water, blue sky and white sand. This retreat includes some of the best Zanzibar has to offer and you get to do it all – or stay and rest to reset. You can create the retreat you need for yourself, just the way you want and need to.
